Ottawa, ON – Jake Sanford went 4-for-4, tying a Frontier League record with 10 RBI in an Ottawa Titans (18-6) 13-0 victory over the Empire State Greys on Saturday night.

Sanford kickstarted the Titans’ offence with an RBI single in the bottom of the first that scored Brendon Dadson.

After a late change, the Titans gave the ball to Gavin Sonnier (ND, 2-0) for the start. The righty went two shutout innings and gave up one hit, one walk, and struck out one.

Greys starter Manuel Rodriguez (loss, 0-1) loaded the bases in the third when Sanford stepped up to the plate. The Titans right-fielder walked, plating home another run, making it a 2-0 ball game.

Jose Taveras (win, 1-0) came on in relief of Sonnier for the third and tossed an impressive five and two-thirds out of the bullpen to pick up the win. Taveras allowed no runs, allowed two hits, two walks, and fanned six in his second appearance of the season.

The offensive onslaught for the Titans began in the fifth, when Sanford launched his first of two homers of the game, taking Martinez deep for the three-run homer, making it a 5-0 game.

Sanford followed up his fifth-inning three-run shot with another homer in the seventh, to make it an 8-0 game.

In the eighth, the Titans loaded the bases off Canadian Alex MacKinnon, for none other than Sanford who took a 2-0 offering off the wall in centre, clearing the bases to equal the league record.

Jason Dicochea plated home a pair with a double to left, putting the game to rest apart of a five-run eighth inning.

In the win, Sanford equals the Frontier League record with 10 runs batted in, which was last accomplished by Schaumburg’s Quincy Nieporte on August 21, 2019. The club has also clinched their eighth series win and ninth consecutive victory.

The Ottawa Titans go for the series sweep against the Empire State Greys on Sunday afternoon with Canadian Armed Forces Day at the ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Ottawa Stadium with Tyler Jandron on the hill.
