Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Titans (9-5) came from behind in the late innings to take game two of their three-game series with the Gateway Grizzlies on Saturday, courtesy of Jason Dicochea’s walk-off base-hit in the tenth inning.

Breland Almadova led off the ballgame with a double to the gap in right-centre off Titans starter Jack Alkire (ND, 0-2), putting the early go-ahead run in scoring position. Two batters later, Isaac Benard looped a base hit into left, plating the opening run as Almadova crossed the plate.

The Titans offence got on the board in the bottom of the second as Clay Fisher lined a two-run home run over the wall in left off Grizzlies starter Sam Gardner. The homer for the Titans shortstop snapped a 0-for-17 stretch.

Both starters settled in over the middle innings as Alkire retired 12 of the last 22 batters he faced, with seven coming on strikes. Gardner also dazzled retiring 14 of the next 15 after the Fisher home run, including 10 in a row at one point.

The Grizzlies took the lead with tallies in the fourth and fifth off Alkire, before chasing the Titans starter, who fared much better in his third start of the season.

With two on and one out in the top of the eighth, Gavin Sonnier rolled what seemed to be an inning-ending double play, but second baseman Jackie Urbaez’s toss to the second base bag got away from Fisher, scoring Josh Goulet on the E4, pushing the lead to two.

Urbaez bounced back in the bottom half, pushing a bunt up the first baseline off John Murphy that first baseman Clint Freeman fielded and threw into the Grizzlies’ first base dugout.

As Urbaez was granted second, Rodrigo Orozco cut the deficit to one with a single to right-centre, then AJ Wright tied the game with a double to the wall in left.

With the International Tiebreaker in effect for the tenth, Grant Larson (win, 1-0) shut the door, giving the Titans a chance to walk it off.

Clay Fisher dropped down a bunt, advancing Zimmerman to third for Jason Dicochea. Behind in the count 0-2 with the infield in, Dicochea ripped the Reed Hayes offering up the middle to score the winning run.

With the win, the Titans have now won four of their first five series of the season.
