Bobby Brown

Manager & Director of Baseball Operations

  • Biography

Bobby Brown was named Manager of the Ottawa Titans on October 20, 2021. Since taking the helm, he has guided the club to multiple playoff appearances (2022, 2024)—the most by one skipper in the modern era of Ottawa professional baseball.

Brown began his coaching career at Allan Hancock College in 2007 before earning his first managerial position in 2010 with the Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Continental Baseball League.

Following a brief stint in the North American League with the Abilene Prairie Dogs, Brown moved to the American Association, where he spent nearly a decade. He managed the Amarillo Sox (2013–2014), the Amarillo Thunderheads (2015), and the Lincoln Saltdogs (2016–2019). In 2017, he was named American Association Manager of the Year after leading the Saltdogs to a 58–40 record and a Central Division title—their first since 2014.

After four seasons in Lincoln, the San Luis Obispo, California native stepped away from the Saltdogs following the 2019 campaign. He later joined the Frontier League’s Gateway Grizzlies as Director of Baseball Operations and Hitting Coach, though the 2020 season was ultimately canceled due to the pandemic.

In 2021, Brown served as the Hitting Coach for the Missoula PaddleHeads of the Pioneer League. With his support, the PaddleHeads posted a league-best 66–32 record and captured the Pioneer League Championship. Their .673 winning percentage was the highest across all of professional baseball that season.

As a player, Brown starred as an outfielder at the University of Oklahoma, hitting .362 in 1995 and helping lead the Sooners to the College World Series. That same year, he began his professional career with the Frontier League’s Springfield Capitals before having his contract purchased by the Kansas City Royals organization.

Brown played professionally from 1998 to 2005, suiting up for seven different teams and finishing his career with a .301 batting average, 368 RBIs, and 623 games played.

He’s no stranger to Canadian baseball, having played for the Northern League’s Winnipeg Goldeyes (2000–2002) and the Canadian Baseball League’s Saskatoon Legends (2003).

In the off-season, Brown resides in Nipomo, California, and is a key contributor to the California Winter League, the Frontier League's Official Winter League.

Tom Carcione

Hitting Coach

Originally from the Chicago suburb of River Grove, Illinois, Carcione began his professional coaching career in 1999 as the Bullpen Coach for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the Northern League under manager Doug Simunic—a team that also featured current Titans skipper Bobby Brown.

He returned to professional baseball in 2006 as the Pitching Coach for the Sioux City Explorers, where he spent two seasons before serving as the Hitting Coach for the Windy City ThunderBolts from 2014–2015.

Between his pro ball stints, Carcione made his mark in the collegiate ranks. In 2010, he became the Head Coach at Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado. He later joined Northern Illinois University, first as Director of Baseball Operations in 2015, then serving three seasons as an Assistant Coach.

Carcione reunited with Bobby Brown for four seasons (2016–2019) with the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association. In 2021, he returned to the Frontier League as the Hitting Coach for the now-defunct Southern Illinois Miners.

No stranger to Ottawa, Carcione previously served as Hitting Coach for the Can-Am League’s Ottawa Rapidz in 2008 under legendary independent league manager Ed Nottle. He later took over as Interim Manager midway through the season and was named the club’s full-time manager in the spring of 2009—just before the team disbanded that April.

As a player, Carcione was a standout catcher at Texas A&M University before being selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 10th round of the 1988 MLB Draft. He reached as high as Double-A during his five-year tenure in the A’s organization.

In 1993, Carcione became the first player ever signed by the Sioux City Explorers for the inaugural season of the modern independant baseball in the Northern League. He went on to enjoy a 10-year professional playing career, competing in both the Northern and Prairie Leagues.
