Bobby Brown

Manager & Director of Baseball Operations

  • Biography

Bobby Brown was named Manager of the Ottawa Titans on October 20, 2021. Under his guidance, the club is just one of just six teams in the league to qualify for playoffs multiple times since 2022 – but is only one of two teams to accomplish the feat playing in the East Division (now Atlantic Conference).

Brown debuted as a coach with Allan Hancock College in 2007, before getting his first managerial job with the Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Continental Baseball League in 2010.

After a brief stop in the North American League with the Abilene Prairie Dogs, Brown joined the American Association, where he’d stay for nearly a decade.

As the skipper of the Amarillo Sox (2013-2014), Amarillo Thunderheads (2015), and the Lincoln Saltdogs (2016-2019), Brown took home American Association Manager of the Year honours in 2017. That year, he guided the Saltdogs to a 58-40 record and a Central Division championship, which was the team’s first since 2014.

Following four seasons in Lincoln, the San Luis Obispo, California native parted ways with the Saltdogs after the 2019 campaign.

Brown later became the Director of Baseball Operations and Hitting Coach for the Frontier League’s Gateway Grizzlies before the pandemic cancelled 2020 season.

Before accepting the Titans managerial position, Brown served as the Hitting Coach for the Pioneer League's Missoula PaddleHeads in 2021. With his help, the PaddleHeads went 66-32 during the regular season which culminated with a Pioneer League Championship. Their .673 winning percentage during the regular season was the highest of any franchise in all professional baseball.

As a player, Brown was an outfielder at the University of Oklahoma, where he hit .362 in 1995 on route to a berth in the College World Series. Later that year, he signed a professional contract with the Frontier League’s Springfield Capitals. After a strong finish to the season, Brown had his contract purchased by the Kansas City Royals organization.

From 1998-2005, he would go on to play for seven different teams before retiring. He ended a very successful playing career slashing .301, with 368 RBI in 623 career games.

Brown is no stranger to baseball north of the border as he suited up for the Northern League’s Winnipeg Goldeyes (2000-2002), and then the Canadian Baseball League’s Saskatoon Legends (2003).

Tom Carcione

Pitching Coach

  • Biography

A veteran in professional baseball, Carcione has over 30 years of experience across many different levels of baseball, both as a coach and as a player.

Before joining the Titans, Carcione began his coaching career in 1999 as the Bullpen Coach under Doug Simunic for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the Northern League - a club that featured Bobby Brown.

After his first stint in pro baseball, Carcione went on to spend two seasons as Pitching Coach for Sioux City from 2006-2007 - then two years as Hitting Coach with the Windy City ThunderBolts from 2014-2015.

Between stints in pro ball, Carcione joined the college ranks as the Head Coach of Metro State University (Denver, Colorado) in 2010. Carcione then became Director of Baseball Operations at Northern Illinois University (DeKalb County, Illinois) in 2015, and had been an Assistant Coach at NIU for three seasons prior.

Recently, Carcione spent four seasons (2016-2019) in the American Association under Bobby Brown with the Lincoln Saltdogs and the 2021 season as the Hitting Coach for the Frontier League’s now-defunct Southern Illinois Miners.

Hailing from the Chicago suburb of River Grove, Illinois, Carcione is no stranger to the Nation’s Capital as he was the Hitting Coach with the Can-Am League's Ottawa Rapidz in 2008 under legendary independant baseball skipper Ed Nottle - before taking over as the team's Interim Manager midway through the season. He was named the full-time manager in the spring of 2009, but the team disbanded in April.

Prior to his coaching career, Carcione was a catcher at Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas) and then went on to be selected by the Oakland A’s in the 10th round of the 1988 MLB Draft.

Reaching as high as Double-A through five seasons in the A’s organization, Carcione was the first player signed by the Northern League's Sioux City Explorers for the inaugural year of modern independent baseball in 1993.

Carcione capped off a 10-year playing career in both the Northern League and Prairie League.

David Peterson

In 2021, Peterson was tasked to guide the Houston Apollos, a travel team in the American Association.
