OFFICIAL FRONTIER LEAGUE BOX SCORE

Evansville, IN - The Ottawa Titans (2-4) got six-plus strong innings from Grant Larson (loss, 0-2), but it wasn't enough in a 2-0 loss to the Evansville Otters (4-2) on Thursday.

Larson and Otters starter Tim Holdgrafer (win, 1-1) went toe-to-toe posting respective six-inning performances. Larson would go six-plus and allow two runs on six hits, issuing no walks, and striking out four in the loss. Holdgrafer would go six shutout frames and allow four hits, walking one, and striking out one for the win.

George Callil broke the scoreless tie with a leadoff solo homer in the bottom of the third off Larson, proving to be the winning run in the series finale.

The Titans ran into stellar defence from the Otters in the contest, with Kona Quiggle and Troy Viola stealing the show with the glove. With one on in the fourth, Taylor Wright's blooper was caught on a dive by Quiggle in shallow centre, who halted the Titans' rally by making the catch and completing the double play by throwing out Gabe Snyder on his way back to first. Viola prevented a potential run with runners at first and second in the sixth, as Jackie Urbaez's sharply hit grounder ended up in the mitt of the Otters' third baseman, who stepped on third for one out and then threw across the diamond to retire the side.

With one on in the seventh, Jacob Olson's double down the left-field line added insurance, scoring Jomar Reyes to make it 2-0.

Jake Polancic (save, 2) opened the door slightly in the ninth as the tying run was aboard with two on and two out. The Langley, BC product got Snyder to fly out to right to end the game, capping off the sweep for the Otters.

The Ottawa Titans open a three-game series tomorrow night with the Gateway Grizzlies at 7:45 pm ET at Grizzlies Ballpark with Trevor Clifton taking the mound. All the action can be heard on CKDJ 107.9 and 94,5 UNIK FM and live-streamed on Flo Baseball.
