Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans (27-29) fell in both games of their doubleheader with the Tri-City ValleyCats (34-22) on Wednesday, losing game one 8-2 and 3-2 in game two, to drop back under the .500 mark.

GAME ONE - Tri-City 8, Ottawa 2

The ValleyCats made the outing tough on right-hander Brooks Walton (loss, 1-1) over the first trio of innings, placing traffic all across the base paths.

After leaving them loaded in the first, Pavin Parks' double cashed in the game's opening run before Cito Culver added to the lead with an RBI off a fielder's choice.

Oscar Campos' no-doubt two-run blast onto Coventry Road with one on in the third, made it 4-0.

Jason Dicochea got the Titans on the board with an RBI ground-rule double in the bottom of the third, plating an Austin Davis extra-base knock.

Jamey Smart made it a two-run game with an RBI single to score Dicochea, cutting the deficit to two.

Later in the frame, Taylor Wright's single to centre looked like it was going to be able to score Smart from second but with a strong throw to the plate by Jaxon Hallmark, the ValleyCats managed to cut down a potential run to end the inning.

Ian Walters led the charge in the late innings with a solo shot off Chris Burica in the fifth, before adding home another with a single part of a three-run seventh inning.

In the game, the Titans were only able to register six hits, with four of them coming in the two-run third.

GAME TWO - Tri-City 3, Ottawa 2

Oscar Campos' two-run shot to dead centre capped off a three-run first for the ValleyCats, who let it stand up in the end.

Alec Thomas (loss, 2-3) would only allow the three runs in the first inning and finish strong after five. The righty surrendered five hits and struck out three, keeping the game within striking distance.

The Titans got on the board with an RBI single from Taylor Wright in the bottom of the fourth against Garrison Bryant (ND, 3-4) to knock the starter out of the game.

With hits tough to come by once again, a balk from Greg Veliz (win, 4-1) in the fifth forced home Broc Mortensen to make it a one-run game. The Titans managed to pull within one after not recording a hit in the fifth inning.

In the sixth, Jason Dicochea's double and Sicnarf Loopstok's walk stood aboard with nobody out against Elliot Carney. The ValleyCats' right-hander was able to get out of the frame and throw up a zero, limiting the damage.

Against Pavin Parks (save, 2) in the ninth, the Titans left Jackie Urbaez single aboard.

The offence went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position in the second half of the doubleheader, seeing their series win streak come to an end.

The Ottawa Titans finish their three-game set against the Tri-City ValleyCats on Thursday night at 6:30 pm at Ottawa Stadium. The Titans will then remain home for a weekend series against the Florence Y'alls. All the action can be heard on CKDJ 107.9 and 94,5 UNIK FM and live-streamed on Flo Baseball.
