Ottawa, ON - In front of a record crowd, the Ottawa Titans (48-45) dropped their final home game of the season to the Trois-Rivières Aigles (37-55) by a 6-1 final on Thursday.

Making his 22nd and final start of the season, Zac Westcott (loss, 5-9) was able to mow through a pair of shutout innings to open the night, keeping the game scoreless.

The Titans' offence struggled in the early going, loading the bases against Jesen Therrien (win, 2-2) in the bottom of the first. With a single and a pair of walks aboard with two outs, the former big leaguer got fellow Canadian Taylor Wright to line out softly to second to get out of the jam.

In the third, the Aigles jumped out in front with a pair of runs on three hits. Austin Markmann's opposite-field double cashed in one before an RBI single from Tyler Wilber doubled the lead.

Westcott gave the Titans an opportunity to come back in the series finale, but the visitors tacked on a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to make it 4-0. The veteran right-hander went six and allowed four runs on eight hits, walked two, and fanned four in his final start of the season.

The Titans got some life in the bottom of the sixth, with a pinch-hit RBI single from Joey Terdoslavich to get on the board. Despite loading the bases later in the inning, a hard line drive from Austin Davis was caught by Brendon Dadson at first to save a pair of runs and end the frame.

Brendon Dadson gave the Aigles some late insurance with a two-run home run off Chris Burica in the ninth, putting the game out of reach.

In the loss, the Titans finish the home portion of the season 32-19.

AJ Wright extended his hit streak to 14 with a 1-for-3 evening, including a walk.

The Ottawa Titans open their final series of the 2023 regular season on Friday, starting a three-game set with the Québec Capitales at 7:05 p.m. from Stade Canac. All the action can be heard on CKDJ 107.9 and 94,5 UNIK FM and live-streamed on Flo Baseball.
