Troy, NY - Dan Beebe (win, 2-1) tossed seven shutout frames as the Ottawa Titans (17-22) dropped the rubber match of their three-game series with the Tri-City ValleyCats (22-17) by a 6-2 final on Sunday.

The ValleyCats' offence made the outing difficult for Titans starter Grant Larson (loss, 3-5), placing traffic on the base paths in each of the starters' five innings.

Cito Culver got the scoring started with an RBI single in the second. Culver went 3-for-3 against Larson in the game. In the third, Carson McCusker blasted his 15th homer of the year with a two-run shot before Cale Jones drove home another run with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

After Jakob Goldfarb plated on a wild pitch in the fifth, Pavin Parks broke on first movement and stole second later in the inning as Larson attempted a pickoff at first. As Parks took off, the throw airmailed Jason Dicochea at first and rolled down the right-field line, scoring Parks all the way from first to make it 6-0.

Larson would exit after five innings and allow six runs (four earned) on a season-high nine hits, walking three, and striking out six in the loss.

As for Beebe, the rookie right-hander was terrific in his fourth professional start. Beebe went seven innings and allowed no runs on just two hits, walked three, and fanned a career-high eight for the win.

Gleyvin Pineda and Brooks Walton retired six of the seven batters they faced in relief, striking out a combined five.

In the ninth, the Titans put traffic aboard against Elliot Carney. With one out, Taylor Wright spoiled the shutout bid with a two-run double to right, scoring Jamey Smart and Jacob Talamante. In the series, Taylor Wright recorded a double in each game.

The Ottawa Titans return home to open a six-game homestand with a three-game set against the Sussex County Miners on Tuesday night at 6:30 pm at Ottawa Stadium. Over the Canada Day long weekend, the Quebec Capitales roll into town for a trio of games.
